We are pleased to announce that the next RIA Electrification & Decarbonisation Group meeting will take place in-person at RIA HQ on 21 February 2023, starting with a Networking lunch at 13:00 and finishing with networking drinks at 16:30. We are excited to announce a distinguished line-up of speakers for this event:

13:00 Networking Lunch
14:00 Prof. Joao Pombo from IRR, University of Huddersfield, will present the results of recent research work around the influence of level crossing wire height on gradient requirements and the impact of steeper gradients on pantograph-OCL performance.
14:30 Phil Doughty, Chief Mechanical and Electrical Engineer at Network Rail, will update the industry on key tasks and challenges facing his team, and also provide a preview of the upcoming joint NR/RIA Traction Power Safety and Innovation Showcase to be held in Coventry in May.
15:00 Networking Refreshments
15:30 Rob Daffern, Principal Engineer at Furrer+Frey, will present the results of a recent RSSB funded research project, T1244: characterising the compatibility of Pantographs and Overhead Contact Systems.
16:00 David Clarke, Technical Director, Railway Industry Association, will lead a workshop on RIA's new Decarb23 Campaign. RIA’s Decarb23 campaign will highlight that the pace of committed decarbonisation activity is insufficient to achieve Net-Zero by 2050 and reinforce our call for a rolling programme of electrification. It is important that the campaign is informed by members and, so after an introduction to the campaign from RIA Technical Director David Clarke, we will be seeking member views on the issues and concerns for companies working or seeking to work on electrification projects.
