Northern Rail Industry Leaders: Delivering the White Paper

Northern Rail Industry Leaders: Delivering the White Paper event & AGM
2 July 2019 | 10am to 1pm
National Railway Museum, Leeman Road, York YO26 4XJ

Following the successful launch of Building the North’s New Railways earlier this year, Northern Rail Industry Leaders (NRIL) will be holding an event, on Tuesday 2 July from 10am to 1pm at the National Railway Museum, looking at the next stages for delivery of the report. The event will also contain the AGM.

The Delivering the White Paper event will seek to:

1) Explore the next actions following the publication of Building the North’s New Railways;
The report set out a number of workstreams which NRIL and its partner organisations will seek to deliver over the coming years. Thanks to all who volunteered to be part of a workstream – you will be contacted shortly and 6 June will be the first opportunity for you to meet with colleagues who have also volunteered for that workstream. There will be table sessions for each workstream group to meet and begin discussions on delivering their specific recommendations.

2) Confirm the NRIL Executive for the coming year;
The NRIL Executive is the steering committee for the group. Following the launch of the report, the NRIL Executive will expand to include the leaders of each workstream group. Thanks to those who agreed to lead a workstream – we’ll be in touch shortly to confirm membership of the Executive.

The event will be followed by an AGM where there will be an opportunity to agree the arrangements for the future management of the organisation. Over the past few years, the Railway Industry Association (RIA) has been providing organisational assistance and communications support for NRIL.  The AGM will seek to formalise that relationship by bringing NRIL under the RIA banner as the voice of the rail industry in the North, complemented by RIA as the national body.

This new approach will provide greater benefits for NRIL members by providing greater resources for NRIL activity, shifting NRIL members onto RIA’s CRM system (therefore ensuring GDPR compliance) and will enable us to facilitate the activity of NRIL to a wider audience. The AGM will present how the new organisation of NRIL will work and how members can make the most from it.
