Recognises an organisation that promotes great practices and guidance for positive mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. 




AtkinsRéalis

Recognising its workforce is the organisation's most valuable asset, AtkinsRéalis is committed to improving the health, happiness, motivation and success of its employees. In 2017, AtkinsRéalis implemented a Wellbeing Policy, comprehensive Strategy and implemented wide-ranging mental health and wellbeing initiatives to create an environment where employees can thrive. In 2022, AtkinsRéalis' engaged the workforce and developed a data-driven approach to improving wellbeing, equal to safety. Survey themes and outputs were used to devise AtkinsRéalis' Wellbeing Strategy to 2026, a holistic, preventative, whole-person, whole-organisation approach underpinned by five pillars: • Workplace • Physical • Emotional • Financial • Social Training 150 MHFAs and 450 Wellbeing Champions, AtkinsRéalis has adopted a Hierarchy of Controls approach to remove many workplace stressors through HSE Management Standards and is working towards gaining ISO45003 International Standard for Psychological Health and Safety Management. Developing and delivering training programmes focusing on principles and behaviours has created joined up thinking between leadership and wellbeing culture. The THRIVE Safety and Wellbeing Leadership programme is a key initiative providing leaders the tools they need to support their workforce. Creating a 'psychologically safe' culture, 1376 employees have attended a Building Resilience Masterclass. Testament to AtkinsRéalis' commitment to ill-health prevention, 68% of 2023 Wellbeing Survey respondents reported work has a positive influence on their wellbeing.

 


Hitachi Rail

Hitachi Rail’s commitment to employee wellbeing has evolved through years of providing diverse resources and programs. In response to employee feedback in 2023, Hitachi consolidated these initiatives into a unified framework, BeWell. Launched in January 2023 to the UK, the framework encompasses five key pillars: mental, physical, financial, inclusivity, and learning. The impact of BeWell has been significant. Advocates from throughout the business were appointed as BeWell Champions and Menopause Champions, alongside mental health first aiders and Manbassadors focusing on men's health. Events such as Stress Awareness Month Webinars, World Menopause Day, and Men's Health Week have bolstered awareness and support. Hitachi's BeWell framework represents a holistic approach to employee wellbeing, addressing diverse needs and fostering a supportive culture. Through collaboration and proactive initiatives, we are proud of our commitment to employee health and resilience.

We are proud to be shortlisted for the Wellbeing Award category at the RIA’s Railway Industry Supplier Excellence (RISE) Awards. 2023-24 has been a significant year for the company as we establish a Safe Psychological Space which supports and promotes employee wellbeing. The last few years have seen significant growth for us as a company and we view employee wellbeing as vital both to the long-term success of the company and our duty as a responsible employer. We recognise that like so many parts of being a small business, wellbeing is a continuing journey - however we believe our progress in fostering a safe space and supporting our employees deserves recognition, and we are honoured to have the opportunity to showcase our achievements.

 



SWGR

SWGR has a strong track record for providing some of the safest working sites in the UK. As national rail specialists, SWGR’s health and safety team works in a safety critical work environment every day, ensuring more than 750 frontline colleagues arrive home safely every day. An integral part of SWGR’s Safe Together campaign is our Mobile Health, Safety and Wellbeing Units (MHSWUs), which are vehicles equipped with medical tools and an occupational nurse to complete free health checks on railway sites nationwide. SWGR was the first infrastructure provider in the country to provide free health and mental wellbeing checks on the frontline. Now, more than 5,500 people have utilised this service, which has prevented potential incidents and accidents potentially caused by health issues and provided colleagues with a proactive way of monitoring their health on a regular basis.
