Oxford Economics Research Launch
Oxford Economics Research Launch
16 September 2021, 10am - 12pm
RIA Offices, Kings Buildings, Westminster
On 16 September, RIA will be launching its updated
The Economic Contribution of UK Rail report, authored by independent researchers Oxford Economics.
The research will build on
the Oxford Economics 2018 report and highlight that in 2019 (the latest point where economic data is available) rail was a significant economic sector in its own right, supporting GVA, jobs and generating tax revenue across the UK. The report will include specific figures previously unseen, on jobs, GVA, Treasury revenues and the wider economic impact of rail on the economy and RIA will be using the findings to showcase how vital our railway is to UK plc, and that it has a continuing central role in supporting the economy post-pandemic.
The report will be launched with a presentation by Oxford Economics
Lead Economist Doug Godden, followed by a panel discussion
with Transport Select Committee Chair Huw Merriman MP and former Transport Minister Stephen Hammond MP.
A full agenda will be shared in due course.
