RIA launches new Rail TV Show to showcase supply sector

4 November 2021

The Railway Industry Association (RIA), the voice of the UK rail supply community, has launched a new initiative to showcase the work of rail suppliers, RIA Rail TV.

RIA Rail TV will explore in each episode a different industry event, issue or topic of significance to the rail supply sector. The first episode was filmed at RAIL LIVE in June 2021, and showcases the various companies and products on display at the event.

Darren Caplan, Chief Executive of the Railway Industry Association (RIA), said: "We believe the future of rail in the UK is bright. So we're very excited today to present RIA Rail TV – a new, modern and dynamic communications channel – showcasing some of the fantastic work RIA members are doing to support the railway industry. The initiative will look at different issues and topics throughout the year, covering the very best of UK rail.

"It's great to present Episode One: RAIL LIVE, looking at some of the exhibitors at the summer trade show and we look forward to presenting future episodes, highlighting the great work of UK rail, in the weeks and months ahead."

Milda Manomaityte, RIA Lead Presenter for Rail TV, said: "It is a privilege to be Lead Presenter for RIA Rail TV and I’m enjoying the challenge immensely!

“It really was great to meet so many RIA members at RAIL LIVE, many for the first time since pandemic restrictions ended. And it is fantastic to see the first episode published. It is clear that RIA Rail TV will offer amazing opportunities to hear member stories and experiences, and to find out what they have in store over the coming years."

Nigel Harris, Managing Editor & Events Director at RAIL Magazine and organiser of RAIL LIVE, said:  “As the UK railway moves ahead with the formation of the Great British Railways organisation created under the Williams-Shapps Plan, innovation, efficiency and speed of design construction of all kinds of rail infrastructure will be fundamental to success. Our supply chain is brimming with ideas, equipment and new techniques and there’s nowhere better to see this world class range of expertise, skills and equipment than our annual RAIL LIVE outside show at Porterbrook’s Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre, in Warwickshire. This programme features great interviews with a selection of RIA members who exhibited at RAIL LIVE 2021. And we’ll be doing it all again on June 22/23 2022, when I’ll be looking forward to seeing lots more RIA members."

Organisations featured in Episode One include:

  • SPL Powerlines UK
  • Dura Composites
  • Pandrol
  • 3Squared
  • OneBigCircle
  • Porterbrook
  • Network Rail
  • British Steel
  • Anderton Concrete

The second episode will cover RIA's Trailblazers initiative, which brings together young and experienced professionals from across the industry, to enable them to learn from each other, make new connections, and celebrate a vibrant and diverse rail workforce.
