RIA’s 13th Innovation Conference is a flagship event in our Unlocking Innovation programme, bringing together inspirational leaders, pioneering engineers, ambitious entrepreneurs and passionate railway professionals. We are proud that our Innovation Conference has won the Trade Association Forum’s Best Conference Award 2018 and MEMCOM's Best Membership Event of the Year 2020!

This year, the RIA Innovation Conference will explore the benefits of rolling out innovative solutions on the operational railway system under the theme Realising the Benefits of Innovation.
Our exhibitors will showcase ready to be deployed innovations and our keynote speakers will share their success stories and tangible benefits they’re seeing because of a successful rollout of innovative technologies and processes. We will also invite young innovators to share their vision for the future railway as part of an integrated transport and mobility system.

At the last event we have launched RIA’s Innovation Strategy , highlighting six key asks to ensure Research, Development and Innovation is being supported in CP7 funding considerations. At the RIA Innovation Conference 2023 we will launch RIA’s Data and Digital Challenge Paper, looking at gaps in railway policy around data and digital, opportunities for the supply chain, and establishing RIA’s lobbying asks in this area.

Our Innovation Conference provides a unique opportunity for engagement between suppliers and invited representatives from the wider rail industry, as well as from academia and innovation bodies. The event will include though provoking keynotes, exhibitor spotlights, and engaging networking activities.

Keynotes
Keynotes from Research, Development and Innovation funding owners from the railway and other industries to share their priorities and opportunities to engage.

TechTalks
Stories from suppliers and clients, sharing their journeys of innovations that are currently being rolled out onto the network and are already delivering benefits.

Exhibition and Spotlights
Large interactive exhibition with innovation spotlight sessions demonstrating solutions ready to be adopted by the sector.

TOC Pitch session
RIA has partnered with the Train Operating Companies (TOC) Innovation Community to host a supplier pitch session offering the opportunity for innovators to pitch their ideas to TOC Innovation Managers in the hope of securing contract opportunities with them. Suppliers can express their interest to pitch under the designated tab.

Network Rail R&D showcase area
The Network Rail Research and Development Showcase will promote the emerging outcomes from NR’s £245m R&D Programme with demonstrations of innovations ready to be deployed across Routes & Regions.

Evening Networking
The evening networking drinks and dinner will offer an informal environment for attendees to relax and meet their industry partners.

Our Innovation Conference brings together all sectors of the rail industry. These include suppliers, clients, academic organisations, government bodies, investors and media representatives.

Ticket Price
To ensure that as many RIA Members and key industry bodies can attend our Innovation Conferences, we set our rates as competitively as possible. The event is open to non-RIA members too. The Full Conference ticket price includes access to the 2-day event, overnight accommodation, lunches, dinner and networking evening on Tuesday 28 March.

CPD points
RIA Innovation Conference is a significant learning opportunity. Delegates should not forget to register the event for Continuing Professional Development points with your professional institution.
