RIA RISE Awards, to celebrate Rail Industry Supplier Excellence, opens for entries

16 July 2020

The Railway Industry Association (RIA) has launched the 2020 Rail Industry Supplier Excellence or RISE Awards, opening up the awards to entries.

The RISE Awards are open to all RIA members and celebrate the value they bring to the rail supply industry, whether in innovation, exports, environment and sustainability, safety and wellbeing or diversity and inclusion. Last year’s winners included companies of all sizes and individuals ranging across the rail sector.

Gaynor Pates, Operations Director at the Railway Industry Association, said: “The RISE Awards seek to celebrate the innovation, growth and impact that RIA members have on our rail industry and on the wider UK.

“2020 has clearly been a very different year to what any of us could have envisaged, following the Coronavirus outbreak, but the rail supply sector has risen to the challenge, working hard to keep our rail network running during an incredibly difficult period as well as building the world-class railway of tomorrow. We should celebrate their fantastic achievements to support the UK, and the RISE Awards this year will do just that. We encourage all to enter to help us showcase the very best of UK rail supply.”

The Award winners will be announced on 5 November, during the RIA Annual Conference.

  3.  About RIA: The Railway Industry Association (RIA) is the voice of the UK rail supply community. We help to grow a sustainable, high-performing, railway supply industry, and to export UK rail expertise and products. We promote and represent our members’ interests to policy makers, clients and other stakeholders in the UK and overseas. RIA has 300+ companies in membership in a sector that contributes £36 billion in economic growth and £11 billion in tax revenue each year, as well as employing 600,000 people—more than the workforce of Birmingham. It is also a growing industry with the number of rail journeys expected to double over the next 25 years and freight set to grow significantly too. RIA’s membership is active across the whole of railway supply, covering a diverse range of products and services and including both multi-national companies and SMEs (60% by number). RIA works to promote the importance of the rail system to UK plc, to help export UK expertise around the globe and to share best practice and innovation across the industry.
