In a unique communications partnership, RIA and ITN Productions are producing a news and current affairs-style programme exploring the great achievements and dedicated people keeping the country moving on the railways.

The rail industry has doubled in the last 20 years and looks set to do so again, which is phenomenal for an industry as old and established as rail. With an already intensely-used network having to accommodate even higher levels of passenger and freight demand, suppliers want to play their part in ensuring world-class services in future. ‘UK Rail, World Class’ will bring to life the innovations, the processes and the dedicated people pushing this industry forward.

Contributing some £36 billion to UK plc in Gross Value Added and employing 600,000 people, this industry is sometimes tarnished with incorrect and negative perceptions. This programme will celebrate these significant contributions and explore the opportunities for innovations and growth.

‘UK Rail, World Class’ will challenge the perceptions of what is required to operate, maintain, renew and enhance the UK railway, keeping Britain moving during periods of real disruption.

Drawing upon ITN’s 60 year heritage and expertise in storytelling, the news-style piece will be anchored by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky to combine key interviews and reports with sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations.

‘UK Rail, World Class’ will premiere at RIA’s Annual Conference in October 2018, and form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring RIA members, industry partners, government, as well as relevant journalists, writers and bloggers.
